3 Reasons Why You Should Treat Yourselves To A Holiday

3 Reasons Why You Should Treat Yourselves To A Holiday

When we think about booking a holiday we often have reservations don’t we and that’s only natural. We worry about spending our hard earned cash, will it give value for money? Or can we find the time to go?

Well, I going to tell you why you should just go for it and treat yourselves to a holiday!

treat yourselves to a holiday in Yorkshire

1. You can always make more money but you can’t get more time

The first question we always ask before booking a holiday is ‘can we afford it?’ Sometimes you have to just seize the moment and go for it. You can always make more money but truly special moments created when you are on a special holiday are few and far between. We must grab every opportunity to create memories and experience new things with friends and family. For me, this is especially true if you have little ones as they are only little for such a short time. You can either look back in 5 years on all your photos and memories of that holiday you just went for and booked or you can look back and wonder what it would have been like.

2. Work hard, play harder

I run two businesses so I know all about work taking over your life and how hard it can be to find time to book a holiday, but sometimes you have to step back and look at your work life balance. Are you working to live or living to work? The whole point in working hard is to earn enough money to enjoy life. It is hard to take a break if you are self-employed. It is equally hard to decide when to take your limited holidays when employed by someone else. However, if you don’t take breaks from work and enjoy life you will end up hating the very job that allows you to take lovely little holidays.

Work Hard Play Harder

3. Everyone deserves a treat

Whether that treat is because you deserve it or you have a friend or family member who deserves it, be spontaneous and book that little holiday! It may be for a special birthday or anniversary, as a thank you to someone or just because you are ready for a little get away! Have you ever been on holiday and regretted it? Have you ever not booked a holiday and regretted it?

North Yorkshire Coast – Britain’s Best Winter Beaches

North Yorkshire Coast – Britain’s Best Winter Beaches

From an article in The Telegraph about Britain’s Best Winter Beaches:
“Runswick Bay on the rugged coast of North Yorkshire has been named the country’s top beachcombing beach by Miranda Krestovnikoff, presenter of the BBC series, Coast, and this isn’t surprising. The setting is certainly idyllic: a sweeping cliff-backed sand-and-shingle bay, pock-marked with fossil-filled pools and encircled by brightly painted fishermen’s cottages.
Keen-eyed beachcombers scour the shingle for iron stone, or shiny pieces of jet, polished to a glimmer by the sea. You are more likely to find ammonite fossils, however, with their wonderful patterning resembling tiny headless coiled snakes – as well as interestingly shaped shells.
Heavy rains tend to reveal fossils hidden in the cliff-face, so keep an eye on the scree slopes at the base of the cliffs. The foreshore – among the shingle, rocks and boulders – is also a good hunting ground for these.”

Castle Howard – North Yorkshire

Castle Howard – North Yorkshire

Opening for Christmas this Saturday.

A visit to this stately home is a must. Whether or not you’re a fan of Brideshead Revisited (which was filmed here for the BBC in 1981 and the film remake in 2008), the setting, house and gardens are truly stunning.

Before you pay admission there are the courtyard shops to visit; from the local butcher selling meat from the Castle Howard estate, to the gorgeous gift shop, to the tea room, there are lots of things to tempt you.

The walled garden is beautiful and a great place for hide and seek! The adventure playground is a must for those with children. The various woodland walks around the grounds are a delight throughout the year. http://www.castlehoward.co.uk/

The Recipe For A Perfect Cottage Holiday

The Recipe For A Perfect Cottage Holiday

perfect cottage holiday

Ingredients

1 cup of the perfect location

1-4 lumps of great company

1 tablespoon of luxury

1 pinch of relaxation

Method

Step 1:

Take that cup of the perfect location and throw it into your bowl. When choosing a holiday cottage, location is everything. If you choose the right location with great local shops, food, ale and attractions, then you are already halfway there towards a great holiday.  Spring Cottage could not be better placed to explore North Yorkshire. With attractions such as Eden Camp, Castle Howard, Flamingo Land close by and York city centre 20 miles away, you certainly won’t be stuck for things to do.

1 cup of the perfect location

Step 2:

Decide how many lumps of great company you would like to add into the mix. We recommend between 1 and 4 at Spring Cottage!

Step 3:

Go ahead and add that tablespoon of luxury! Having beautiful surroundings in your holiday cottage can make the difference between a good holiday and a great holiday! Spring Cottage is decorated beautifully and full of little bits of luxury from the goodies in the welcome hamper to the soft fluffy bathrobes waiting for you next to the roll top bath.

Step 4:

Sprinkle in that pinch of relaxation. Spring Cottage is a home from home meaning you can truly relax. You can enjoy your own time schedule – sleep when you want, explore when you want and most importantly, eat what and when you want. To help you relax, Spring Cottage has a charming cottage garden where you can unwind and enjoy a meal or a glass of wine from the local vineyard.

1 pinch of relaxation

Step 5:

Bake your perfect cottage holiday from 3 nights to 1 week and enjoy!

Why choose a SPECIAL holiday cottage in Yorkshire

Why choose a SPECIAL holiday cottage in Yorkshire

When OK will do?

Imagine this – you have decided to treat yourself and your family. You have booked a SPECIAL holiday cottage in Yorkshire; a gorgeous, smarter (and more expensive) place than you’d normally choose.

You have kept it a secret until you are fit to burst and then finally you get to watch your little ones’ excitement as you tell them all about the adventure they are going on. Not to mention the two of you!

Your little ones are excited to explore the quaint cottage, their new room for the week and to find out if there really are fairies and goblins in the country cottage garden.

Whilst they explore and play, you plan to sit in the garden with that book you never seem to get time to read, a glass of sparkling wine in hand and the sunshine on your face.

So, you arrive at the beautiful and tranquil cottage which is even more special and magical than you imagined it would be.

So far, so good!  Except for one thing.

In true British fashion, the weather is wet and miserable. Your little ones don’t want to play in the garden but you still want them to have a fun and you still want to get a chance to read that book (not to mention a chance to sip something fizzy)!

Thank goodness then, that you chose a special holiday cottage for your family holiday!

A special holiday cottage such as Spring Cottage. A special holiday cottage that is full of games, toys, books and dvds to keep the youngsters occupied whatever the weather. And when they’re exhausted and have gone to bed, there are games, (no toys), books and dvds for the adults too!

And it’s one of the many reasons why we recommend and we know our guest choose Spring Cottage as their special holiday cottage in Yorkshire.  If you still need convincing read our Guest Book. It really is worth treating yourself!
