Places to shop in Malton

Here is Derek Fox's butcher's shop in the centre of Malton, in the market place. The array of locally sourced game and pheasants for sale there is quite impressive.

5 for £20 seems like a bargain but that would mean doing your own plucking which isn't to everyone's taste. Mine included! I think I'll stick to turkey!

Now to some that may seem a bit of an odd thing to do, but wait until you've tried it.

Places To Eat In Yorkshire

This fondant fancy from Bothams of Whitby tastes gorgeous whereever you choose to eat it. In this case, a takeaway to eat back at Spring Cottage.

Fondant fancies take me back to my childhood and the rest of the family think I'm mad to opt for one on these when this local bakery has so many other treas on offer. They prefer a coconut slice or a flapjack from Bothams. Not me!

The nearest Bothams to Spring Cottage is at Pickering, with their head office being at Whitby. At Pickering you can take away or eat in. Both equally pleasurable.

I wonder which treat you'll choose? Do let me know.

Yorkshire Pubs To Eat In

Yorkshire Pubs To Eat In

Here's pudding in the village pub, The Grapes
On this occasion coffee creme brulee and shortbread. Yes, it tasted as good as it looks!

It's no surprise that The Grapes is a go-to pub for locals. It's not a fancy gastro-pub just a small, traditional Yorkshire pub with great food and a warm Yorkshire welcome at it's heart.

I can't wait to go back!

Places to eat in Malton

If you're in Malton and fancy a glass of fizz to go with your sandwich, then head to No 46 Cafe Bar in Malton's market place where you can get both!

And watch the hustle and bustle of the market place at the same time.

Just look at their display of cakes too. Pretty impressive!

I'd totally recommend it.
